Strengthening
Community
Through Giving.

The Byham Charitable Foundation was founded to support the arts and culture, education, and health initiatives that enrich the Pittsburgh region and communities beyond.

Who We Are

The Byham Charitable Foundation was established by William C. Byham, Ph.D. and Carolyn M. Byham, longtime champions of the arts, education, and the Pittsburgh community. Bill Byham is the founder of Development Dimensions International (DDI), the global leadership consultancy he started in 1970, and a widely published author and psychologist.

The family's dedication to leadership and community continues through Tacy M. Byham, Ph.D., who serves as Chief Executive Officer of DDI. Her stewardship reflects the same values of service, excellence, and care for others that have always guided the foundation's work.

A private foundation based near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we direct our giving toward organizations that make a lasting difference in the communities we care about. Our family's commitment to civic life is reflected in landmark gifts such as the Byham Theater and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Byham Center for Dance Excellence.

We believe in building partnerships, creating opportunities, and investing in the future. From cultural institutions to universities and health research, the Foundation supports organizations with strong leadership and the capacity to address complex challenges for generations to come.
